In this class, I hope to learn how to better use technology and applications to teach my students in an engaging and stimulating way. As time goes on technology becomes a larger and larger part of society and by including it within my educational strategies I can prepare my students for their own futures. I will apply the information that I use in this course to create beautiful presentations and find new ways to use technology in order to support not only my students' education but also my own. By having the knowledge and proficiency within these applications I will be able to create better quality assignments and use the tools to aid me in study skills, communication, and creativity while pursuing my degree.

In the past, I have used technology to create slideshows, turn in assignments, and communicate with other members of my community (ie. professors, peers, students). I also have used it as a large part of my studying allowing me to create images and diagrams that can help me visualize the concepts learned in class. These can help turn complex information into easily digestible charts which can promote my learning and memorization of certain topics. I have also used websites and blogs to use as inspiration for lesson plans and scheduling to see what other teachers may be doing and how I can implement it in my own classroom. Having a wider center for receiving knowledge is useful to me to see other creative ideas I may not be able to see on my own.

My personal learning network consists of many people, spaces, and tools that help me learn and retain many skills. For example, a hobby I am very interested in is choreographing different pieces to relay a story in a certain light. In high school, some of the people I relied on to help me learn this skill were other members if the choreography team, directors, and stage managers who could assist me in learning how to do this effectively. While these people were very helpful to me, it was imperative that I also used platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram to see how other people approached learning this skill and what tips the broader community had to offer. These spaces helped me expand my knowledge base and learn from a variety of different styles of choreography and how to approach it. Lastly, I used tools such as Choreographic which further helped me visualize my thoughts and learn the importance of formations and structure within a performance. All of these factors came together to create my personal learning network for choreography and supported me through accomplishing my learning goals in this subject.

  1. I really like how you connected your goals for this class to your future career as a teacher—it shows you’re already thinking about how to apply what you learn in meaningful ways. Your examples of how you’ve already used technology, like creating diagrams to simplify complex information and using blogs for inspiration, are very clear and practical. I also like how you tied in your personal learning network with your passion for choreography. That connection shows creativity and demonstrates how learning can happen across different communities, platforms, and tools. It’s a strong example of how technology supports both academic and personal growth.

  4. I liked how you focused on the technology side of education and how your taking the effort to learn them to better teach your students in the future. I was impressed by your use of the internet for your further knowledge and I agree that diagrams could help students learn far better. I liked that you used both networks at the same time for your hobby. Getting help from teachers and other students and also using Youtube and Instagram to get more proficient at it.
