My Personal Learning Network has grown to incorporate many new people, spaces, and tools. For example, I have met many other students within my major and studying education. This has allowed me to reach out for help and continue my learning with peer support throughout my path to becoming an educator. I also have been introduced to spaces and tools such as the technology sandbox which have allowed me to explore the many different resources that are available to me when planning what to use in my classroom. Nothing from my initial PLN has gone away keeping it growing and evolving every day including my professors, peers, social media, etc.
Data collection will be very helpful when receiving feedback from parents and students about my classroom environment. I plan on teaching 2nd grade where the students will be mostly using physical resources, but these surveys can be very useful when sending out newsletters in which the parents can fill out in order to see what their children need more help with. I could also have my students fill this out at the end of the year or mid point to see what I can improve on going forward. Having this data can influence how I run my classroom and what I implement in spaces such as classroom management.
Next I would like to learn how to develop my editing skills in order to make engaging content for my students for online learning. After Covid-19, distance learning has been a concern for any emergency that could happen at any moment. If this were to occur I would like to have the skills to make recorded lessons that are interactive and stimulating so my students become interested in the work that they are doing and retain the information the I present. This could include how to insert graphics, sounds, etc. within videos that are simple but effective within lessons.
